Most of the communities we monitor are under a bulk rate agreement with your Homeowner’s Association which entitles each Resident in the
community to professional Central Station security monitoring at no additional cost to you. This monitoring service typically does not
include parts and labor for our technicians to service or activate your alarm system. The Association pays a bulk rate for all homes in the
community whether or not you actually use our monitoring service.
A recent audit by us found that many owners are not taking advantage of security monitoring or have failed to keep their alert response
phone numbers and resident information up to date. Some homeowner’s may even be paying someone else for central monitoring instead of using
our service for free. Having professional monitoring not only provides “piece-of-mind” protection from burglary and fire, but also results
in a large discount off of your homeowner’s insurance premium. This discount amount is typically many times what the Association pays
on your behalf for the monitoring service. You only qualify for this discount if your house is centrally monitored.
Since the economy seems to be deteriorating causing crime to rise, we encourage every resident to make sure their security systems are
functioning properly (see Alarm System Self Test Procedure). If an alarm is activated
at your home and your emergency contact information is out of date, no one may be able to cut off your alarm (causing a noise problem
for your neighbors) and possibly resulting in fines from the police/fire departments. In addition, 75% of all false alarms result from
“user error” meaning not knowing what to do when an alarm is triggered.
It is also very important to remember that your alarm system also protects you against both fire and panic
situations. The fire system in your valuable home is not installed by the electrician, but by the alarm company. The fire, police, and
medical panic buttons also necessitate monitoring to be able to communicate vital information and insure immediate response to these emergencies.
